AAFW: Fashion Week Recap
We’re still coming down from the absolute buzz of Afterpay Australia Fashion Week (AAFW) in Sydney last week and what a truly fabulous week it was! Being our first Fashion Week to attend, we were so eager to soak it all up - it certainly brought a large dose of inspiration that we were craving! It truly was a flurry of style, colour and celebration of the love of fashion on and off the runway! We wined, dined and dressed up and we thought we’d revisit all our favourite moments and places from our time in the big smoke!
AAFW DAY THREE
In true us fashion, we started off with a bang on Wednesday, with some last minute packing and prepping for a *very* exciting international shoot happening this month and a quick chit chat with our favourite Bazaar Babes closed FB group before high-tailing it to the airport to fly to Sydney for day three of AAFW. With the usual flight delay drama - we didn’t let that stop us from being our most fabulous selves! A couple of champagnes deep and a quick outfit change into our sparkly outfits in the airport toilet - we were on our way to the David Jones Indigenous Fashion Projects Runway. What an incredibly inspiring show showcasing emerging First Nations designers. Miimi and Jiinda was a personal fave! We were keen to check out the Sydney night scene, and enjoyed a beautiful dinner and drinks at Bar Compains with our girlfriend Sharnee from Wandering Folk, before FINALLY checking into our accommodation Crystal Brook which was a TOTAL vibe. Highly recommend if you're planning a trip to Syd!
AAFW DAY FOUR
Day four was jam packed and all kinds of inspiring! We started the day getting glam and headed to Carriageworks to attend the Women With Drive talk with Lesleigh Jermanus from Alemais and Harper's Bazaar Editor-in-Chief Jillian Davison. What a truly incredible powerhouse in fashion with such a colourful success story from humble beginnings. We were delighted to be able to listen to this intimate conversation and gain some insight. Getting amongst all the #streetstyle and media outside Carriageworks had such an exciting vibe - it was amazing to see such a colourful, eclectic, diverse and down right fabulous array of style on the streets of Sydney. We LOVED representing NLB and showcasing a little sneak peek of what's to come! We also couldn't go past the eBay pop up runway treadmill where we were able to style up our outfits with vintage Chanel and YSL - such a vibe! Head to our Tiktok to see the footage of us. Wining and dining was high on the agenda in the afternoon - heading Bar Planet for a martini, Fontana for delish Italian, Shady Pines, which was the most epic honkey tonk hoedown vibe and in true Rose and Ness fashion, sniffed out a karaoke bar of course!
AAFW DAY FIVE
We couldn’t not go to the big smoke without indulging our vintage shopping fixation - so off we went to Crown Street at Surry Hills and King Street at Newton, sporting our glamazon but very uncomfortable shoes (RIP our feet from this week!). We ate the most delicious ramen at Rising Sun Workshop, and then headed back to our hotel to get glammed up for the evening ahead. Sporting our most fabulous sparkly outfits which were probably our favourite style moment of the whole trip- we headed to Freda’s for a negroni in the arvo sun and then trotted off to Carriageworks again for the closing night. With an exclusive invite into the VIP lounge (thanks to our darling friend Annie from Afterpay!) we got to hang with some pretty interesting characters and TV personalities (great people watching!), before taking our seats for the We Wear Australian x Afterpay show, which showcased over 50 iconic and emerging Australian designers. A very inspiring and immersive runway and the perfect way to top of an incredible week. We couldn’t not end the weekend without hitting the town again - our top spots were margaritas and truffle chips at Huelo (the best margi of the weekend for sure!), ANTE for dinner and a nightcap at Jacoby's Tiki Bar. Vibes!
